NE4OSW Opposes Federal Pause of Offshore Wind Projects
Pausing fully-permitted offshore wind projects at the finish line doesn’t just strand billions of dollars at sea. It strands American workers and increases our energy bills.

BOSTON – March 17, 2026 – New England for Offshore Wind (@NE4OSW) today celebrated the delivery of first power from the Revolution Wind project to the New England electric grid, marking a major milestone for the region’s clean energy transition and grid reliability.
Revolution Wind, a 704 MW offshore wind project serving Rhode Island and Connecticut, is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 350,000 homes and businesses while delivering long-term price stability through fixed-price contracts.
“As Revolution Wind begins delivering electricity to the New England grid, the region moves closer to a more reliable and diversified energy system,” said Katie Segal, Senior Offshore Wind Director, Environmental League of Massachusetts. “Investments in offshore wind help diversify the region’s energy supply, reduce exposure to fuel price volatility, and strengthen the long-term reliability of New England’s electric grid.”
NE4OSW applauded the project as a critical addition to New England’s energy supply at a time of rising electricity demand and ongoing concerns about winter energy reliability. Offshore wind projects like Revolution Wind are expected to play a key role in reducing price spikes during periods of high demand, particularly in colder months when fuel constraints can strain the region’s grid.
Once it reaches full commercial operation, the project is expected to provide a stable, homegrown source of energy that reduces reliance on imported fuels, saving New England ratepayers as much as $500 million per year.
The coalition emphasized that Revolution Wind represents the type of collaborative investment the New England region needs to build a more affordable and reliable energy system.
